Architect fees: what shapes the budget of a mission

Architect fees depend first on the mission. A simple sketch, plans for a building permit, a full interior architecture project or project management with site supervision do not involve the same time, the same responsibilities or the same level of detail.

Surface area alone is not enough to estimate the cost. Two projects of identical size can demand very different effort depending on the land, structural constraints, the number of contractors, the quality of finishes, deadlines and administrative approvals.

The main cost factors

  • The complexity of the program: house, villa, commercial space, extension or renovation.
  • The expected level of deliverables: sketches, 3D views, technical drawings or a complete file.
  • The degree of involvement in tenders, materials and site coordination.
  • The constraints of the site, the budget, the schedule and the permits.

The best starting point is to share your land, surface areas, expectations and constraints. The firm can then propose a mission that is appropriate, legible and proportionate.
